How to deal with morning sickness at work effectively

As far as morning sickness is concerned, there is nothing much that you can do about it. Many pregnant women experience morning sickness during their early pregnancy or the third trimester. It can strike at any time, but the situation may be worse in case you feel ill during work time. This may include the feeling of nausea, vomiting, or maybe both.

Plan ahead

You can plan in case you are suffering from this condition. You need to plan and see how you can get to and from work safely. Opt for public transport or even car pooling in case you are feeling nauseated. Do not drive under any circumstances. In case this is not always possible, prepare your car properly. Keep a big glass of ice water with you. Drive with the window down so that you get cool air on your face. Also, keep some plastic grocery bags tucked away close to you in the car. Pullover to a safe spot when you get a wave of nausea or vomiting. Freshen up once you arrive at work in case you have been ill while you were on your way in. Some women tend to feel that if they eat as soon as they get up, it will make their ride more bearable. You may also do a deep breathing exercise to delay these feelings for some time till you reach your workplace.

How to deal with morning sickness at work by planning at your workplace

While at your desk, plan the shortest route to the bathroom that is nearest to you. Also, keep plastic grocery bags handy around you. You may use a wastebasket too. In case you have your own office, shut the door quietly. Or else you can try and borrow a private enclosed space as long as you have this problem. Try and go to the employee lounge or restroom in case you feel nausea. Keep cool rags around your throat as well as on your forehead.

Take some help from your office mates. Ask them to cover for you in case you need to step away from your desk.

How to deal with morning sickness at work by using a toothbrush

You can use a pocket toothbrush to feel better after a bout of nausea or vomiting. In case of toothpaste nauseates you then you can try children’s toothpaste having different flavors. You may even try to use a soft-bristled toothbrush. You may even try using baking soda and salt as toothpaste. You may use mints as a breath-freshening technique. You may even try using square sheets of gelatin which are impregnated with mouth wash and tend to melt quickly.

The fact is that morning sickness will remain, whether you are at home or work. All that you can do is manage it well by planning. So keep the above-mentioned tips in mind.
